Super Sunday

I have read a few articles and Dweck's book, Mindset.  To incorporate these ideas my blog for today is a declaration of my mindset-the outlook that will welcome a positive and successful day.

Super Sunday is possible if I believe, make and look for opportunities of super(ness).

While eating breakfast with my sons they each explained they are looking forward to school on Tuesday to learn the results of the assessment they completed last week.  I was impressed that each wanted feedback on their progress as well as confirmation that they understood the particular content and skills embedded in the first unit assessment.  I shared with both that I was proud of them as a mother and a teacher.  Isn't that what we want our students/children to do?  We want them engaged in learning expriences followed by a demonstration (assessment) of their knowledge and abilities and complimented by the interest to know how they did.  Positive Mindset

Below is a graphic depicting the difference between a Growth Mindset and Fixed Mindset.

Fixed Mindset vs. Growth Mindset

My next steps to create a super Sunday is to jump into the reading and writing that needs to get done.  I will embrace the worry and anxiety and turn those feelings into pride by completing important work.

Should I?

Many thoughts running through my head that all begin with "Should I."

a) Should I do the laundry that is piling up in the hamper [all the hampers in the house]?

b) Should I read over my pages of writing I need to submit to my doctoral chair in a week?

c) Should I kick up my feet and enjoy a quiet evening [as quiet as it will be with two boys, a German shepherd, and a husband]?

d) Should I spend time on Twitter, Pinterest or other sites claiming to be doing research but really wasting time?

e) Should just bite the bullet, put on my big girl pants and do what needs to get done. [Sort and file the mounds of papers around my office and then jump into my writing.]

OKAY---In typing the options I realize there is only one that will satisfy me....Option e

Groundhog Day

Today the groundhog saw his shadow which means six more weeks of winter.
